Who is the Lighthouse Group?

Providing Friendship, Fellowship and Fun

Striving to provide physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual support to adults with special needs.

Every day adults with special needs are isolated and alone because they have no social structure or safe place to hang out with others like them who accept them as they are.

The Lighthouse Group is a group of champions who serve the adults with special needs in our community by creating a place to build lifelong friendships, fellowships and fun to give them a fulfilling life and a place to continue to develop and grow.

Since getting started in 2003, Lighthouse has served hundreds of adults with special needs and their families by providing community and support through monthly clubs, camp experiences and other events that have built confidence, helped them break through barriers and given them the support they need to thrive.

In turn our participants are able to give back and serve others in our community. Each year during the holidays, we support our homeless community with a food drive. At Christmas we adopt senior centers where our participants deliver presents and homemade cards to ensure the seniors in our community know that they are not forgotten.

Our History

The Glennwood Foundation, dba The Lighthouse Group, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was started in 2003, by a group of parents in South Orange County. We were started to create a community for adults with special needs that have aged out of formal school systems and youth groups. We were formed to provide a place for them to belong to and participate in an environment that supports them and helps them grow socially throughout their adult life.

Over the last 20+ years, we have continually serviced this community and have helped build life-long friendships, encouraged each person to participate at whatever level they are comfortable and have watched our community grow, serving 50-70 participants on a weekly basis.

Lighthouse is a staple in our community where participants can connect with others in a safe environment and thrive in interpersonal relationships, as well as their relationship with God.
